Since I can't make it to the runways of New York or Paris right now (but a girl can dream, right?!), I've been scouring the internet for the 2017 Wedding Dress Trends. The good news is that there is really something out there for everyone whether that is based on body shape, personality, comfort level, or venue type. I don't know about you, but I always kind of cringe at the word "trend" because it makes me think of snap bracelets, hair scrunchies, and hyper-color clothing from the early 90's (anyone remember that?). So, I've compiled a list of the 6 best new fashions that will not make you regret your choice in a few years.
1. Clean lines and Minimal embellishment
My mom always said that YOU should wear the dress instead of the DRESS wearing you. With Fall 2017 collections, many designers went back to basics: clean lines, structure, and fit. I remember trying on wedding dresses that were all lace, had lots of glitz, and had many different design elements. They swallowed my petite, curvy frame, and they just plain weren't me. The dress store that I was at only had one, yes one dress that didn't have any of this gobbledygook on it. So the good news is that if you are looking for something with clean line, you should soon be able to find more of a selection! Here are some of my personal favorites...

2. Pink & Blue!!!
Colorful wedding dresses have been gaining steam for the last couple of years, but this year's colors are a variety of pinks and pale, muted blues. If whites just don't do it for you, or if you are looking for something a little different, this could be your ticket!

3. Sleeves
For brides that don't want to be pulling up their dress all day, want a little more coverage, or have a fall/winter wedding, sleeves could be a perfect fit. Cap, short, long, or billowy - all sleeves are in. I especially love the billowy or "bishops sleeves" for their boho vibe and also because that opens up a lot of possibilities for purchasing vintage dresses. What's old is new again!

4. Capes and caplets
Like sleeves, this accessory could be great for a cold weather ceremony or more coverage, but there is some extra versatility...not to mention some serious drama! This style is also easy to find in vintage dresses.

5. Fringe & Feathers
This trend is all about creating movement, plus how FUN would these be to dance in?! If you want to incorporate just a little bit, try a wrap or a stole.

6. High Low Ballgowns
With this trend you get the best of both worlds, plus it's also a great way to show off a fantastic pair of shoes, great legs, and would make dancing so much easier! I think this works best in two designs: a very flowey skirt that starts just above the knee (below), and a ballgown that starts at tea length.
